If the show wanted to focus on Haruka's past, I wish it had set this up sooner—right now, it feels completely out of left field. Adding a tsundere into the mix doesn’t make it any more exciting. To make matters worse, this arc is painfully generic in execution, and I can already predict exactly wher

"Seen it all before, I want my money back." I let https://spin.moe/ choose tonight’s show for me. It’s fine. I mean, the episode doesn’t have an original bone in its body, but it could’ve been worse. Maybe it helped that I was eating dinner while watching—if I had really focused, I probably could’v

Last week, I was singing this show’s praises, but this episode had me noticing the show falling into tropes I’m not a fan of: an overpowered lead, a protagonist with no real background beyond being a really nice guy, and a loli he’ll have to save who will probably join his party. I’m hoping they do

Aside from a few amusing moments, it was pretty bland and predictable.

Outside of them engaging in actual relationship activities, there’s nothing particularly interesting about these two or why they like each other so much.

Solidifies itself as a fine Ultraman series, just not one I’ll be revisiting in the future

Ultraman Arc (2024)

S01 E24 · The Descending Dream
A fine enough outing, but as we progress further into Arc's endgame, the overall narrative feels increasingly messy, and my investment in this cast of characters continues to dwindle.

Another reliably solid outing.

Pretty generic, but my Thursday slate is looking pretty bare, so it might pass the three-episode test by default.

Trying to get back into the swing of things, Merry Christmas!

When you try to have emotional payoff without any proper buildup, you end up with a haphazard climax leading to a predictable outcome that we knew was coming since episode 1.

LoveLive! Superstar!! (2021)

S03 E05 · Ni hao! Shanghai! Xiaolongbao!
While I wish the story had kept the two groups separate, this is a fine episode. I'm not entirely sure if everyone needed to go to Shanghai for it, aside from setting up next week’s joint performance. Hopefully, though, it brings some good character moments for Keke.

While I wish they'd given this episode more time to develop the relationship between the sisters, it's fine—which seems to be my general consensus of the season so far. The sisters' relationship drama should've lasted longer than four episodes. There's untapped potential there

Well, we're back. Even after watching the recap, I still forgot quite a bit. While some potential story beats are interesting, I have a feeling this show would have been better as a one-and-done season.

This episode felt like being dragged to a concert by a friend for a band you’ve never heard of, knowing none of their songs. While listening, you might think, 'This is fine, I guess,' but you completely forget about it once you leave.

After-school Hanako-kun (2023)

S01 E06 · The Summer Monster: Toilet-bound Hanako-san / Return of the Summer Monster
I guess it had a few good moments.

The biggest drawback of Season 3 for me will be the interesting plotlines they set up, only to abandon after a single episode, wrapping everything up with clichéd platitudes and a dance number. This is supposed to be the final season—the big hurrah. You can take narrative risks and challenge both yo

Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms (2024)

S01 E03 · It Was Your Will That Reached Out
While the show has the style and tone of a Trigger-type production, its bland storytelling and poor characterization make it something you can leave on in the background while doing other things, but it fails to actively engage you.

Blue Miburo (2024)

S01 E01 · The Wolves of Mibu and a Boy
Nothing particularly groundbreaking; I was hoping it would fill the void left by Apothecary Diaries and The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master. The writing felt off, as some parts were underdeveloped and rushed, and the conclusion felt out of place compared to everything that came before it.

High 6/10 Not as strong as last week's episode, but still enjoyable due to the intriguing setup for the final season. It would easily rate an 8 or higher if the writers included more dramatic scenes. The development of the new trio feels rushed; they work well together without any growing pains. E

I guess I’m old school, but I don't like how the female lead treats her boss. Much of the episode’s humor relies on her mistreating him and getting away with it because she’s good at her job. She’s not particularly nice to anyone, really. That said, I love shows about cooking and food since they’re

DEMON LORD 2099 (2024)

S01 E01 · Cyberpunk City Shinjuku
A high 6/10 I was about to be crushed under the weight of exposition, but I’m a sucker for cyberpunk, and the two leads are interesting, so I’ll give it a few more episodes.

Man, the male lead in this one is annoying. He’s your generic 'nice, perfect guy' who always says the right thing. It’s a shame I dislike him so much, because I really like the maid character—and even the dog is cute

Looks like there will be a lot of background shows this season. I thought they’d do something interesting with many students not wanting to learn magic, but they gave in quickly, and the conflict disappeared.
