Reviews for The Pacific

I don't think it's quite as brilliant as Band of Brothers, but it's still a great piece of television.

A great miniseries that is a genuine and truthful adaptation of the harshness experienced in World War II. With many intense and sad moments, realistic characters with intrapersonal and moral conflicts caused by the war, as well as very well-done direction and choreography. HBO knows how to make a g

It’s not as incredible as Band of Brothers but it’s still an incredible piece of war media. A must watch for history lovers like myself. Overall this was a great miniseries that I watched along with my parents and we all enjoyed it :D Episodes Ranked: 🥇Okinawa (1x9) 🥈Home (1x10) 🥉Peleliu Landing

90,45% | EXCELLENT The horror and intensity of the same war situation in the Pacific are still felt, even though they don't quite match the quality of some of the elements found in "Band of Brothers." This show's using a linear story, and of course, the narrative is easy to watch and understand, b

it’s not band of brothers, but it doesn’t need to be. the pacific is a companion piece to the miniseries on the european world war 2 front band of brothers, both tales of war and conflict. the pacific tells a tale of forgotten battles, oftentimes not steeped in glory like the many heard of and taug

The Pacific can truly be gripping and profound television at its core. Displaying the battle in WW2 on the pacific front focusing the story through the eyes of 3 marines. The production design was stellar in its immersive use of setting. It provides a score that will give you goosebumps and it never

Another excellent war series, that might not quite stack up against its "Band of Brothers" counterpart, but still does more than enough to stand on its own two feet in my opinion. Other than Sledge I didn't think the character work was anywhere near as strong, there were a couple of episodes I didn'

I really missed the interviews at the start of each episode :( BOB is just far superior

Pretty solid. Band of brothers is way better mainly due to the characters but it's a nice watch. Love the intro score by Hans Zimmer. Sledge and Leckie were the ones I cared for. Favorite episode: Okinawa (Ep 9)

there’s no way snafu is actually real

Proof that I am still thinking about this series everyday, here is a scene analysis I wrote for my FTS 143: Film Theory and Practice class: The first scene I chose is actually from the HBO miniseries, The Pacific (2010), mainly because I thought about this series a lot while reading the second Laca

Letterboxd Review --> I interrupted my Superhero marathon for this watch in celebration of Victory in the Pacific day on September 5th. While there may be a slew of reasons why this one isn't quite as good as Band of Brothers, for me it's undoubtedly another 5-star production and one of the best t

The Pacific is hopeless yet hopeful, devastating yet beautiful. This is going to stay with me forever. It's the pinnacle of anti-war storytelling. While Band Of Brothers is about the sheer camaraderie and bravery in combat, The Pacific is a poetic examination of psychological deterioration of combat

Yes I probaly like this alot more than other people idk I just absolutely love war films/series, this was juts so genuinely special for a show that I hadn't expected alot from every single episode was amazing in its own way and I love the way this show perfectly handled the 3 protagonists, John bas

The last 2 episodes blew me away but idk. The rest didn’t have me all that convinced tbh. Happy I watched it. 7/10 is a pretty good score.

Probably the most brutal show I’ve ever seen. Band of brothers is better but the gap isn’t as wide I’ve seen some people say. (Updated to change my rating from 4.5 to 5 because I still think about this show All. The. Time.)

The Pacific is often overlooked simply because Band of Brothers set such a high standard. However, this series is just as thought-provoking and impactful as its predecessor. The episodes covering Guadalcanal, Peleliu, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa are incredibly brutal and emotionally charged, making them d

The Pacific is an excellent mini series. You'll be sucked into the lives of marines fighting in the Pacific during WW2. Intense, emotional, raw and all of it feels real.

Didn't strike me as much as Band of Brothers, but to be fair that was pretty much impossible, because BoB is just perfect. The Pacific, although not striking greatness for me at all levels like BoB, specially for not being able to make me sympathize with all of its characters as in the 2001 series,

May not be as good as Band of Brothers but it’s dam sure close. Superb acting.

Maybe my favorite miniseries? I fell in love with these characters, especially Sledge and Snafu. I worried about them and felt for them. This made me miss taking history classes. I'll need to rewatch this very soon. Also, I should check out Band of Brothers, I'm sure. Same review on my letterboxd:

Just finished this TV Show, gotta say, it wasn’t BOB levels of goodness and not even close, first half was mid and boring with some cringe moments and filler things but when you reach the second half of the season, when sledge starts appearing more and leckie has less screentime it gets so good with

A look into The Pacific War during WWII from the viewpoint of three U.S. Marines; Robert Leckie, Eugene Sledge, and John Basilone. While depicting the war, this show also goes beyond the battlefield, and taps into how the war affected marines. Physically, mentally and emotionally, these men went t
