Monty Python revolutionized comedy as we know it and remains one of the most incessantly funny, unapologetically intelligent, and relentlessly enduring artistic visionaries of all time. Six supremely brilliant and hilarious men came together to catch lightning in a bottle, and it still works over five decades later.

With as wide-reaching of a brand as Python is now, it is almost unbelievable how humble their beginnings were. Monty Python did not exist until October 5, 1969 when the first episode of this show premiered on the BBC at almost 11 PM. There is an anecdote of John Cleese telling Michael Palin right before they went out to film the Flying Sheep sketch, one of the very first they filmed in front of a live audience, that he was really uncertain whether or not people would laugh. But they did, and they still are. 

This show is worth watching to see how the six members constantly push comedy, the BBC censors, and each other to their limits. They change the game, and have so much fun doing it. You also get the real privilege of a front row seat to watching them grow, develop, and refine their own individual styles and characters. It genuinely is a must-watch for any comedy fans or just anyone with an interest in groundbreakers in the history of television and visual mediums.

A lot of the humour will come across as offensive to the sensitive audience of today, but there is no denying that Monty Python's Flying Circus is one of the most influential, creative and best works of comedy the world has ever seen.
