Endings like this usually define if the whole thing works or doesn't. And I think they nailed it. It might've taken a bit too long for the twist, but I think it works and only because of the powerful performances that made it believable. It also puts a different perspective on the series as a whole

My god. I’m glad that scene was shot the way it was, no sound, no voice. Narration and voice is a huge motif on this show and it’s done so well. When the narrator went from Catherine to Stephen was amazing.
